WATCH: Eddie Fresco’s Leaving! Local Rapper Opens Up About Moving Away From Malta And Shares Insane New Video From International Tour

Thousands of followers and well over a million views later, young Maltese rapper Eddie Fresco is about to embark on his biggest project yet; touring, making music and living away from the island he’s called home for the last 22 years.

The young rapper revealed the big news with Lovin Malta after unveiling his latest single and music video, POCKETROCKET, from his current album What You Made Me. But to some of his closest friends and followers, the revelation shouldn’t come as too much of a shock.

“I’ve been dreaming about this moment for years now, and I’ve always tried hard to push my music far beyond Malta’s shores and represent the island abroad,” Eddie told Lovin Malta.

In fact, Eddie Fresco’s new base will be Czech Republic, a country that has just proved to be big fans of the Maltese rapper’s work when he toured there last month.

Right before shit continued hitting the fan in both Malta and Czechia in regards to COVID-19, Eddie Fresco managed to squeeze in a series of performances in Prague and Liberec, two cities which greeted him with open arms… and insane moshpits.

“Those gigs were something else,” Eddie recounted, looking back at a relatively performance-less 2020 due to the pandemic which still managed to provide vital highlights to his career. “Everyone absolutely vibed with every song I put out, bodies were flying everywhere, and a lot of people knew the lyrics to songs that had only been out for a couple of days!”

And whether it’s from the rapper’s multiple Instagram posts during the tour or in this latest music video for POCKETROCKET, it’s all laid out in full, rad detail.

Shot and directed by Ukranian-Italian master Kasualboi during the recent tour in Czechia alongside previous Italian collaborator Yung Belial, POCKETROCKET is everything you’d expect from a Fresco banger, from the heavy bass to the heavier visuals.

With the bangers piling up and more international fans pouring in, Eddie Fresco’s name keeps being listed alongside even bigger names in the industry.

POCKETROCKET itself features a verse by Chetta, a massive American rapper who also happens to be a good friend of New Orleans duo $uicideboy$.

Oh, and that tour in Czech Republic?

It only saw Eddie casually supporting Redzed, the biggest rapper in the country and a fan of the young Maltese artist’s hustle himself.

And that isn’t where the big names end either, with 2020’s What You Made featuring verses by Gizmo, Witchouse 40k, Freewill, TWENTYTHREE and NYCL KAI… all massive movers and shakers of the current global hip hop scene that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere for now.

“This marks a whole new chapter in my life and career, and I can’t wait for it to begin… against all odds.”

2020 might’ve thrown a spanner in the works of every artist around the world, but for Edde Fresco, it feels like it’s all just been a brief hiccup.

“I spent most of my time recording even more new music at home, planning music video shoots… and looking ahead at 2021,” Eddie said, revealing that he’s planning to officially make the move next year when “things hopefully die down a little bit more”.

And as thousands of plays and views keep racking up, the future is looking particularly bright for the young Maltese rapper with the hopes of taking the world by storm in the same way he did his home island.
