WATCH: Maltese Lecturer Schools Uni Students In Art Of Romance

A university lecture on trading and futures markets may not be the most typically romantic of settings for a marriage proposal. Yet lecturer Michel Said managed to pull it off yesterday morning, roping in his fourth year banking and finance students as he successfully proposed to his girlfriend Irina.

One of the students told Lovin Malta Said had invited his girlfriend to the lecture on the pretence that his class wanted to ask her questions on her job as an auditor. He picked a couple of students and gave them a few auditing-related questions to ask his girlfriend, lulling her into a false sense of security. However, the final question caught her completely off guard, as five students, one by one, asked her: “Irina, will you marry Michel?”

Irina clasped her mouth in surprise as Michel Said dropped to his knees to bring out a ring, while the students switched on Bruno Mars’ “Marry You” to add to the mood.

It all ended well too – the banking students erupted into cheers as Irina said yes.
