Liam Debono, the 18-year old facing charges of attempted homicide and grievous bodily harm after he was involved in a hit-and-run with PC Simon Schembri, will be facing a trial by jury this November.
The incident, which left Schembri with a collapsed lung and an amputated arm, happened in May 2018.
Debono has also faced a flurry of separate accusations, from stealing two cars and a motorcycle in 2017, to driving without a license and tampering with a vehicle’s chassis number.
His trial by jury is set to commence on 16th November of this year and will be represented by legal aid lawyer Simon Micallef Stafrace.
Lawyers Nadia Attard and Anne Marie Cutajar will be prosecuting for the Republic of Malta.
Representing Simon Schembri as parte civile will be Arthur Azzopardi, Andy Ellul, and Herman Mula.
The trial will be presided over by Judge Giovanni Grixti.
