Three men are being held by the police after a series of arrests last night.

Polie were doing their usual round in St Julian’s Saturday evening when two youths were seen acting suspiciously near a vehicle, police said today in a statement. After observing the youths for some time, one of them was seen removing a bag from the vehicle.

It was at this point that officers stopped the men, a 26-year-old and a 21-year-old, both from Qormi.

The police found cannabis inside the bag, and a search on the other person resulted in a find of €1,300 in cash.

After the arrests, police searched the homes of one of the two youths. During the home search, they found four further bags of cannabis, alongside two other bags believed to be holding cocaine.

In relation to this find, a 27-year-old man from Żebbuġ has been arrested.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech has opened an inquiry into this case.
