Malta has registered 44 new COVID-19 patients and 63 recoveries, bringing the current active cases down to 434.

This means every single day this week has seen a sharp decrease in active cases, which was 639 just last week… but also a worrying increase in deaths, with an average of one virus-related death per day bringing up the toll from 29 last Friday to 37 today.

A total of 2,252 swab tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

Public Health Superintendent Charmaine Gauci is expected to provide more information on the latest cases in her weekly press briefing which is being streamed right now.

In fact, earlier today, two more COVID-19 victims – a 78-year-old man and a 90-year-old man, were announced.
