A Weather Warning Has Been Issued For Malta For The Rest Of The Afternoon
This morning in Malta has been very sunny, with the temperature sitting on a relatively mild 18°C, but that hasn’t stopped the Met Office from issuing a weather warning for the rest of the afternoon. And it’s all due to strong winds which will be hitting Malta in the coming hours.
“The South-Southwest wind will be strong at times over the exposed ares of the Maltese Islands,” a ‘yellow warning’ on the official Malta International Airport website reads. “This warning is valid till 5 o’clock this evening.”
As it stands, the weather for the rest of the day is set to be partly cloudy, becoming fine later. With a ridge of high pressure extending from Turkey to Libya and low pressure extending from Northwest Europe all the way down to Sicily, Malta is perfectly placed to feel the brunt of strong Force 6 Lbiċ winds over the rest of the afternoon. As a result, the sea will also be rough at times.

The rest of the week holds very little rainfall for the islands, with temperatures on Republic Day this Wednesday climbing back up to 20°C. Of course, the UV index will be sitting at a negligible 2 for the rest of the week, which is very normal for this time of the year. The wind will also die down a bit over the midweek, but the weekend holds some more wintery weather.
The mainly sunny days and mild temperatures will go back to a rainy weekend, particularly on Saturday. The strong winds will come back, with some more force (even going up to Force 7 at times) on Sunday, as temperatures plummet to highs that feel like 12°C and lows of 11°C.
