Malta just got name-dropped in one of the biggest animated TV series of our generation… and we’re still very shooketh.

Adult animated science fiction Rick & Morty gave Malta a shoutout during the opening scene of its latest episode and we just can’t believe that Rick has actually visited our island. Well, crash-landed, from the sounds of it.

Following an escape from a robot-infested planet, Rick and Morty make their way back to Earth, but following an argument over the promise of a pet dragon (because, of course), Rick accidentally gasses both of them unconscious and crash lands on Earth. Upon waking up in hospital, he’s informed by his daughter Beth that they crashed in…you guessed it, Malta.

The two supposedly crashed land here before being taken back to the US. How they got back home is obvious… portal gun (duh).

Now we’re aware that there’s a couple of Maltas around the world (one of them being in Illinois itself), but for a show all about travelling to different universes, we’re not finding it too hard to believe that the dynamic duo might’ve found themselves on our island after all.
