Calling all filmmakers and scriptwriters alike! A Hollywood Masterclass is coming to Malta next week and features some of the biggest names in the movie business…

Four prominent movie personalities will be in Malta next week including Pulp Fiction’s Harvey Keitel, A Clockwork Orange’s Malcolm McDowell and the scriptwriter behind Master and Commander, Dr John Collee.

If you are thinking of breaking into the movie business, then this may just be the perfect opportunity for you.

It all kicks off this Monday…

… at 9:30 am with Dr. John Collee hosting a series of Masterclasses at Spazju Kreattiv on scriptwriting in both television and film, up until Wednesday. The opportunity to pick the brains of a world-renowned scriptwriter, who has worked with the likes of Russell Crowe, is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for aspiring scriptwriters!

Wednesday will also mark the start of the first edition of the Malta Film Conversations where, every evening until Saturday, a film will be screened at Spazju Kreattiv and a key player of that film will be interviewed in person!

Wednesday’s screening will feature ‘Hotel Mumbai’ followed by an interview with the movie’s scriptwriter (you guessed it) Dr. John Collee.

Thursday’s film is none other than the controversial 1971 dystopian crime film ‘A Clockwork Orange’ followed by an interview with the star of the film himself, Malcolm McDowell.

Perhaps the most exciting evening will be Friday when Harvey Keitel (or you may know him as Mr Wolf) will hold an interactive discussion with the audience after the screening of the cult classic ‘Pulp Fiction.’

Closing off the week on Saturday will be local filmmaker Mark Doneo with a screening of his 2013 thriller ‘Silhouette.’ Those in attendance will be able to speak to Doneo about his experience in the local film and television industries, where they’ll gain invaluable insight on what it takes to make it in Malta.

The Malt Film Conversations event coincides with Keitel’s and McDowell’s visit to Malta ahead of them filming their latest project Storbju, a movie about Malta’s first revolution, Sette Giugno.

Storbju will be the first film ever to be filmed in Malta and is also based on Maltese history.

It will follow the events of Sette Giugno, an important day in Maltese history when a series of riots by the Maltese population in 1919 resulted in British troops firing into the crowd, killing four.

Keitel will be playing the part of acting governor Walter Charles Hunter Blair, whilst McDowell will be playing Colonel Saville.

The film will be directed by Italian director Davide Ferrario with Jean Pierre Margo as film’s producer.

Needless to say, next week is going to feel like we’re in Hollywood with all these famous actors running around!
