Gżira Athleta has added some much-needed depth to its roster after signing two US athletes to its squad, less than two weeks before the start of the new basketball season.

The basketball team put pen to paper with US Forward Dylan Causwell and Dedrian Parmer Jr., both of whom will begin their career abroad after successful college campaigns.

Parmer was described as the “most talented player in the last NCAA Division Two season” after finishing his senior year with Oklahoma Christians with an average of 16 points.

“A forward who is able to give a double dimension mixing three points shoot and back basket game,” said Starting Five Agency, who orchestrated the signing.

The Italy-based agency was also behind the deal which saw University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma’s Dylan Causwell sign with Gżira Athleta.

Prior to his one-year stint at USAO, Causwell played for the NCAA Division One side Loyola Marymount Lions.

Causwell and Parmer J. add a dynamic threat to Athleta’s frontline who will be vying for a shot at the title.

Just last week, Naxxar Starlites managed to resign two of their key players, 6’6 forward Bobby Ahearn and 6’6 forward Travis McConico, who both came from the US last year but didn’t see much playtime due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new season expected to start on 24th October, under strict medical protocols in light of the COVID-19 pandemic established by the MBA.
