It’s Been 1,000 Days Since Gozo’s Azure Window Collapsed And We’re Still Not Over It

Today marks the 1,000th day since the collapse of Gozo’s Azure Window on the 8th of March 2017.

The Azure Window was an icon in Gozitan – and Maltese – culture, nestled in little old Dwejra Bay on the sister island. Not only was it a tourist-magnet, with millions of foreigners adding it to their trip itinerary, but it was also deeply etched into the hearts of Gozitans and Maltese alike.

On that rainy and very windy day in 2017, social media was flooded with photos and tributes to the natural icon. But the love for it has not died with its collapse.

If anything, it’s only been escalated, as people still reminisce on the days when the window was the backdrop to summer drives and spring strolls.
