Community Discussion: Is there space for politics at Pride?

It’s not all glitz and glam – early on in Pride Week a discussion by Ruth Baldacchino and Mina Tolu will tackle some hard-hitting questions.

Why do we still need Pride in Malta? Are we there yet? Who are we leaving behind? What’s next for our communities and movement? This event aims to provide a space to LGBTIQ communities in Malta to discuss the role and relevance of Pride by presenting a history of Pride marches in Malta, reflecting on achievements and highlighting gaps for LGBTIQ people in Malta.

The issue of mental health in Malta, particularly within the LGBTIQ+ community, is not discussed often enough. Through a short film, a personal account, and through the work carried out by a therapist who works with issues of shame, the event hopes to break through certain barriers.
