Don’t look now, but one of the most influential bands in British indie is coming to Malta for an unforgettable show.

James, the triple platinum Mancunian band behind hits like ‘Come Home’ and ‘She’s a Star’, will be performing at Aria Complex on the 12th of June, courtesy of Rock’N Malta.

Having influenced everyone from The Smith’s Morrissey and Johnny Marr with their ‘Jimone’ EP, released in 1983, they’ve gone on to change the modern indie scenes in ways we’ll never truly know.

Rock’N Malta’s 12th June gig at Aria Complex will bring James’ thundering, body shaking loud tribal drum beats, as well as earlier hits and songs from their 15th studio album, aptly titled ‘Living In Extraordinary Time’, while supported by a local band.

“It is therefore our absolute pleasure to host James as the standard bearers of the ‘alternative’ genre of rock,” Lou Bondi, Artistic Director of Rock’N Malta, commented. “Many bands have labelled themselves as such yet most end up falling into two categories.”

“There are those who remain alternative and slowly descend into obscurity and those who sell out and become mainstream,” Bondi continued.

James are one of the rare bands who have withstood the test of time, achieving mainstream success while staying true to themselves

Among numerous accolades, their most recent album, 2016’s ‘Girl at the End of the World’ debuted at number two in the UK album charts.

In total, they have sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, including their 1998 ‘Best Of’ which was a UK number one and went triple platinum. James’ reputation as a uniquely transcendent live act is well-earned, having headlined festivals from Glastonbury in 1992 to Festival No.6 in 2015.

James, made up of Tim Booth (Vocals), Adrian Oxaal (Lead Guitarist), Jim Glennie (Bass guitar), Saul Davies (Violin, guitar and percussion), Mark Hunter (Keyboards), Dave Baynton-Power (Drums) and Andy Diagram (Trumpet) have achieved timeless longevity attributed to their constant process of renewal and reinvention.
